Your adventure begins in Casablanca, where our guide from Show Me Morocco will meet you at your accommodation. You’ll visit the magnificent Hassan II Mosque*, one of the largest mosques in the world, standing majestically over the Atlantic Ocean. Then, enjoy a scenic drive through Morocco’s landscape as you head toward Fes, stopping for lunch along the way. Arrive in Fes in the evening and check in to a traditional riad. After breakfast, embark on a guided tour of the Medina of Fes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most well-preserved medieval cities in the world. Stroll through narrow alleys bustling with artisans, visit the Al Quaraouiyine University, the oldest continuously operating university, and explore the Chouara Tannery, where leather is dyed using centuries-old techniques. Visit the Jewish Quarter (Mellah) and admire the stunning Royal Palace Gates. After lunch at a local restaurant, head to the Merenid Tombs for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city. Leave Fes behind and travel toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. First, we stop in Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Africa” due to its alpine architecture and fresh air. Continuing through the Berber village of Azrou, famous for its handicrafts, we make our way to the famous Monkeys Forest, where you can observe Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. After passing through the stunning Tizi Talghemt mountain pass, we arrive in Erfoud, gateway to the Sahara Desert. We’ll spend the night at a Berber camp, where you can experience the tranquility of the desert and sleep under the stars.
Start your day with an exploration of the vast Erg Chebbi dunes, visiting nomadic families who still live in traditional tents, experiencing their unique way of life. Stop by Khamlia Village, where you’ll enjoy a traditional Gnawa music performance and learn about their African heritage. Visit the Lake of Merzouga, home to migratory flamingos.
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the dunes, then ride back to Merzouga by camel. After breakfast, travel towards Rissani, the former capital of the Alawi dynasty, and explore its vibrant souk (market), known for its spices and handmade crafts. Continue to the Todra Gorges, where towering rock walls create an incredible natural spectacle.
