Leave the plains around Marrakech and embark on a journey through the picturesque Moulay Brahim Gorge and the foothills of the western High Atlas Mountains. As you pass the village of Asni, you’ll make your way to Imi Oughlad, where you’ll meet your mules and muleteers to begin your trekking adventure. The elevation in Tizi Oussem is approximately 1,800 meters (5,900 feet).
Continue your trek and reach the village of Aroumd (Aremd), where you’ll stay overnight in another village gite. A gite is a traditional Berber house or guesthouse where you can experience the local culture and hospitality.
If time permits, you can enjoy an optional 2-hour climb to the summit of Ouanoums, which stands at an elevation of 3,650 meters (11,975 feet). Alternatively, you can relax at the base camp for the night, preparing for the next day’s ascent of Mt Toubkal. The base camp is situated at an elevation of approximately 3,200 meters (10,500 feet).
Today is the highlight of your trekking adventure as you summit the majestic Mt Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa with an elevation of 4,167 meters (13,671 feet). Enjoy the satisfaction of reaching the summit and take in the breathtaking views of the valleys below. Afterward, return to the base camp for the night.
After a rewarding experience on Mt Toubkal, you’ll make your way back to Marrakech. In the early evening, take advantage of a few hours to explore this vibrant city. You can visit the bustling souks, admire the stunning architecture of the medina, or indulge in some serious bargaining for souvenirs.
On your final day in Marrakech, you have the option to rise early and pre-book a Hot Air Balloon excursion to witness the sunrise over the city. Make sure to allow enough time to return from the activity if you have onward travel plans.
