8 Days Morocco Tour from Casablanca to Sahara Desert Fes and Marrakech

Your Moroccan adventure begins in Casablanca, Morocco’s economic capital and largest city. After meeting your driver guide, the day starts with a visit to the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world and an architectural masterpiece built partly over the Atlantic Ocean.

After exploring Casablanca, the journey continues north along the Atlantic coast to Rabat, the capital of Morocco and one of the country’s four imperial cities. In Rabat you will visit the famous Hassan Tower, an unfinished minaret dating back to the twelfth century, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V which houses the tombs of Morocco’s royal family. You will also stroll through the picturesque Kasbah of the Udayas with its white and blue Andalusian style houses overlooking the ocean.

In the afternoon the tour continues inland toward Fes through fertile agricultural plains and charming rural towns. Arrival in Fes in the early evening where you will check into a traditional riad located inside the historic medina.

Today is dedicated to discovering the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco with a professional local guide. Fes is home to one of the world’s largest and oldest medieval medinas and offers a fascinating glimpse into Moroccan history and traditions.

Your guided tour begins with a panoramic view of the city before entering the narrow streets of Fes el Bali, the historic old medina which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will explore famous monuments such as the Al Quaraouiyine University, considered the oldest continuously operating university in the world, as well as the Bou Inania Madrasa with its intricate Moroccan architecture.

You will also visit the famous leather tanneries where artisans still dye leather using traditional methods, and wander through the vibrant souks filled with spices, ceramics, textiles and handmade crafts. The tour also includes a visit to the Jewish quarter known as Mellah and the Royal Palace gates.

After breakfast you depart Fes and begin a scenic journey toward the Sahara Desert. The road climbs into the Middle Atlas Mountains where the first stop is the charming town of Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco due to its alpine style architecture and clean streets.

Continuing south you reach the cedar forests near Azrou, home to wild Barbary monkeys that can often be seen playing among the ancient cedar trees.

The journey continues through beautiful mountain landscapes until reaching the town of Midelt where you will stop for lunch. Afterward the road descends toward the stunning Ziz Valley where thousands of palm trees form one of Morocco’s most beautiful oasis landscapes.

By late afternoon you arrive in Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara Desert. Here your camel caravan awaits for a magical ride across the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi just in time to enjoy the spectacular sunset.

Upon arrival at the desert camp you will be welcomed with traditional Moroccan hospitality followed by a delicious dinner and Berber music around the campfire beneath a sky full of stars.

Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes, a magical moment when the desert glows in shades of gold and orange.

After breakfast you will explore the fascinating region surrounding Merzouga. The day includes visits to nomadic families living in traditional desert tents where you can learn about their unique lifestyle. You will also visit the village of Khamlia, famous for its traditional Gnawa music performed by descendants of Sub Saharan African traders.

The excursion continues through desert landscapes including fossil sites and hidden oases surrounded by palm trees. You will also visit the seasonal lake of Merzouga which attracts various desert birds.

In the afternoon you return to your hotel near the dunes where you can relax or take a walk in the desert.

After breakfast you leave the Sahara and travel to the nearby town of Rissani which is known for its traditional market and historical importance as a caravan trading center.

The journey continues through desert landscapes and palm filled valleys toward the spectacular Todra Gorges. These dramatic canyon walls rise up to 300 meters high creating one of the most impressive natural sites in Morocco. Enjoy time to walk along the river and admire the towering cliffs that attract rock climbers from around the world.

Later in the afternoon the tour continues to the scenic Dades Valley known for its beautiful landscapes, kasbahs and unusual rock formations often called the Monkey Fingers.

Today you travel along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through southern Morocco. The route passes through Skoura Oasis where palm groves hide ancient kasbahs.

The next stop is Ouarzazate, often called the Hollywood of Morocco due to its important film studios. After a short visit the journey continues to the famous Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks. This ancient fortified village has been used as the filming location for many famous movies and television series.

After exploring the kasbah the journey continues across the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n Tichka pass at an altitude of 2260 meters offering breathtaking views of traditional Berber villages and mountain landscapes.

Today you will explore the fascinating city of Marrakech with a local guide. Known as the Red City, Marrakech offers a vibrant mix of history, culture and architecture.
