Itinerary

Day 1 Marrakech - Imlil - Tacheddirt:

After a delightful breakfast in Marrakech, we embark on our journey, driving towards Imlil through the picturesque town of Asni. Imlil serves as the gateway for mountain treks and is a vibrant market town, buzzing with activity. Here, we meet our experienced mule team and load our gear before commencing our hike along the valley towards Tacheddirt, approximately 8 kilometers from Imlil. As we ascend towards the Tizi n’Tamatert pass (2,279 meters), the trail offers stunning views. Descending from the pass, we reach the charming village of Ouaneskra and continue for another half-hour to Tacheddirt (3,000 meters), where we set up camp near the serene river. Throughout the day, we enjoy delicious meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 2Tacheddirt - Azib Likemt:

Our adventure continues as we cross the valley and begin a gradual ascent towards the Tizi Likemt pass (3,555 meters). The path can be challenging due to loose scree, but the rewarding view of the majestic Toubkal massif awaits us at the summit. Following the pass, we embark on a long descent towards the village of Azib Likemt, where we spend the night, nestled amidst beautiful surroundings. Meals provided: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 3Azib Likemt - Tizi n'Ourai - Amsouzert:

Today’s journey encompasses diverse landscapes as we embark on a relatively easy but captivating day. From the Tizi n’Ououraine pass (3,120 meters), we are treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the Toubkal massif, including its summit, the east face, and the Ifni Dome (3,876 meters). Continuing on, we arrive at Amsouzert, a remarkable village known for its striking beauty. Here, we spend the night in a simple village Gite, immersing ourselves in the local atmosphere. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 4Amsouzert - Ifni Lake:

Heading west from Amsouzert, we explore several charming villages as we make our way towards the enchanting Ifni Lake, the only lake in the area. Surrounded by rugged mountains and towering heaps of rubble, the lake offers a mesmerizing sight. We plan to arrive at the lake by lunchtime, allowing us to relax and soak in the tranquility of the surroundings. We set up camp near the lake and spent the night in this captivating area. Meals provided: breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Day 5Ifni Lake - Nelter Hut:

Feeling fit and acclimatized, we prepare for the most challenging day of our trek. We ascend along a steep path, navigating a seemingly endless scree slope. After a demanding climb, we reach the Tizi n’Ouanoums pass (3,664 meters), a narrow ledge nestled between two rock formations. From here, we embark on a zigzag descent towards Nelter Hut, a mountain refuge where we spend the night. Alternatively, we can camp just outside the hut. Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Mt. Toubkal Summit - Imlil:

On this momentous day, we rise before dawn and follow a well-established path towards the summit of Mt Toubkal. If weather conditions permit, it should take us around 2-3 hours to reach the summit, granting us awe-inspiring views of the entire Atlas range and the plains of Marrakech beyond. After relishing our achievement, we descend swiftly, passing through the villages of Sidi Chamharouch and Aremd, and following the forested trail along the Mizane River. Finally, we reach the trailhead at Imlil. If you are staying in Marrakech, transportation will be provided to take you back to the city.
