After your arrival in Marrakech, we will embark on a journey towards Ouarzazate. Our first stop will be at Kasbah Telouet, the former residence of the Glaoui Pasha. This incredible Kasbah offers a glimpse into the untouched nature of Morocco. Continuing our visit, we will reach the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, where inhabitants still reside within the walls of this ancient Kasbah. We will explore the Kasbah and the surrounding Berber villages.
After breakfast at your hotel in Ouarzazate, we will continue our tour towards Merzouga. Our route will take us through Agdz, where you can enjoy the beautiful palm groves and oases. As we continue, you will witness the stunning landscapes of the desertic flatland. Finally, we will arrive in Merzouga, where you can experience the magic of the Sahara Desert. Overnight stay in Merzouga.
Sandboarding: If you enjoy adventure sports, sandboarding is a thrilling activity to try in Merzouga. Glide down the sandy slopes on a sandboard, similar to snowboarding on snow. It’s a fun way to experience the dunes from a different perspective.
4×4 Desert Tour: Another option is to take a 4×4 desert tour, where a local guide will drive you through the desert in a rugged vehicle. This allows you to explore more remote areas and visit places like Khamlia, a village known for its Gnawa music and culture.
Sunset/Sunrise Watching: Merzouga is famous for its stunning sunsets and sunrises over the Sahara Desert. Consider scheduling your activities around these times to witness the magical colors of the sky as the sun appears or disappears behind the dunes.
And then spend the second night in Merzouga
Wake up early to witness the mesmerizing sunrise over the dunes. After riding camels back to the hotel, you can freshen up and have breakfast. We will then journey to Rissani to explore the traditional market, the largest in southern Morocco. Continuing our route, we will visit a fossilized marble factory in Erfoud. Our journey will take us through Berber villages like Touroug and Tinjdad before reaching Tinghir, where the famous Todra Gorges are located. We’ll take a walk in the river of the gorges, surrounded by magnificent mountains. Overnight stay in Todra Gorges.
After breakfast, we will drive through Boumalne, entering the Dades Valley. We’ll drive alongside the valley to the Dades Gorges, where we’ll explore the area on foot. We’ll then return to the Kasbah of Ait Youl and take an off-road route near the Atlas Mountains to Boutaghrar. Here, we’ll encounter nomads living in caves, combining the experience of desert and Atlas nomadic lifestyles. Enjoy lunch at a traditional restaurant in the village of Boutaghrar before visiting the Rose Valley in Kelaa Mgouna, known for its fragrant rose petals used in perfumes, lotions, and oils. Our next stop is the Amerdhyle Kasbah in the Skoura Oasis. Finally, we will arrive in Ouarzazate for an overnight stay.
Before returning to Marrakech, we will visit the famous Kasbah Taourirt, once controlled by the Pasha and his wives. This magnificent castle has been featured in movies such as “Rules of Engagement.” Additionally, we will explore the Atlas Film Studios, where famous films have been shot. After lunch in the High Atlas Mountains, we will make our way back to Marrakech, concluding our tour.
